Social label in Milan
Human Nature – Connecting the dots ism Creative Holland
MINI EXPO BOSSCHE VERTEGENWOORDIGING

EXPO & TALK
Social label is part of the show and talks of Human Nature
Human Nature: designing the equilibrium is one of the projects in Milan that focusses on nature as its theme. How do we ensure balance between humans and nature? What instruments do we have at our disposal and how does this reflect on a future that we can look forward to with more awareness and greater sensitivity? The project is an initiative of Connecting the Dots in collaboration with Creative Holland, and gives room to eleven prominent Dutch design studios and brands to talk about a future in which Humans and Nature enter into a new relationship. The project consists of a number of interviews, and an exhibition at Design Language in Milan. Human Nature also includes eleven interviews by Viveka van Vliet, published in The Dots with portraits by Boudewijn Bollmann.
EXPO SOCIAL LABEL
Book Social label >Design Works, an open book on designing labour
By Petra Janssen (Studio Boot) & Simone Kramer (C-mone)
Together with all the insights gained from the debates, experiences and practices the publication “Design Works” offers an overview of Social label from the birth 2011 until now. All tackled from different perspectives and highlight a range of sheltered workshops and social businesses, exploring what design can do for society in terms of social inclusion. From lessons learned in the process, to ‘a manifesto’ for a new economy based on human values: Social label celebrates the power of design and communication, and is a striking attempt to make a change in the Dutch system of labour, participation and education.
Social label >KOM handcrafted storytelling ceramics – limited Milan collection
Last year workshops of Dutch healthcare organisations Cello Zorg and Reinier van Arkel joined us to Milan to be part of our tiny house. They proudly shared their stories with the press and gave live workshops of their storytelling ceramics designed by Edwin Vollebergh (Studio Boot). It was a special experience for the makers, which they happily transferred to the limited Milan collection. Coincidentally it included many images of ice-cream, coffee and so on. This special collection is shown during the Salone del Mobile this year in Milan.
Social label >KLUIS and >VAAS
But there are more representatives of the Social label design collection traveling to Milan. Social label’s >KLUIS in collaboration with design duo Kranen/Gille which is specifically designed based on the makers of the workshop WeenerXL ‘s-Hertogenbosch. As well as Social label >VAAS in collaboration with designer Roderick Vos, which includes a little vase based on the wishes of workshop Artenzo and the large vase produced by Cor Unum, a ceramics atelier in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Message of inclusivity to Europe
In collaboration with leading designers and sheltered workshops all across the Netherlands – from care organisations to businesses – we create a socially sustainable design collection that builds a sense of self-worth and opens new perspectives. We are the Social label lab creating new opportunities and demonstrate what meaningful design can do to create an inclusive society with enjoyable work for all.
